So.. maybe I’m slacking

My New Year’s resolution of updating my blog hasn’t worked out so well. I haven’t had much to update about. Josh is at division matches up north so I haven’t seen much of him, or talked to him. I’ve only seen him once in the almost two weeks that he’s been gone and due to lack of cell towers for our service, we’ve barely talked. The time has flown by though I’ve kept a rather busy schedule so that I don’t just sit around. I’ve started crafting days with my friend Erin and hopefully our friend Sandra will be joining us more often now. I know that this blogs intended purpose was to fill you in on things that we do in Oki, but I think maybe I will start sharing my (hopefully weekly) crafting ventures with you! Last weekend I finished up two scarves for two girls that I babysit on a regular basis. They turned out really cute and I made them long enough that they can wear them for many years to come. This was also my first try at fringe on a scarf, and I think it turned out rather cute!! This past week I started a scarf for myself out of some really neat yarn with puff balls. I really like the way its going and hope to finish it up early next week. Last week I also helped Erin with a lot of home decor projects which was rather fun since our decorating options are rather limited. Something else I’ve picked up in the past two weeks is hopefully the start of an exercise program. I got the Just Dance game for Wii which is a blast, and a good cardio workout at the same time. Erin and I are also going to try to get on a schedule doing Zumba together. I have a game and she has a DVD program for it, so we just need the motivation now!

This past week I also had the pleasure of going to Cocok’s(pronounced coco) nail salon for a pedicure. That is one of the things women rave about most over here. It was a lot of fun and I quite enjoyed the foot/calf massage! One of the amazing things about Cocok’s is the many designs you can get on your nails that are hand painted. In the US most intricate designs are kind of stenciled on your nails with a sprayer. Not here! These women go to town with paint brushes and detail even your little toe! Here are some pictures! The first is of a little girl who went with us, who came with her mommy. The second with the pastel flowers is mine and the Asian/cherry blossom design is Sandra’s. It was a little pricey and I can certainly say I wont be doing it too often, but it sure was a nice treat!

Have a nice weekend everyone! I think our comments may work now, so drop by and give it a shot! What would you like to hear more about?

PS: I’m hoping to get Josh to write a bit about how he did at division matches on here for ya, we’ll see! It’s like pulling teeth =D

  2. You always brighten my day. The little girls are so cute in their scarves and they obviously loved them. The colors are so nice and you did a great job with the fringe. I haven't seen puff ball yarn before...it's really neat. So glad to hear of your busy schedule and that you are having fun. You are special! Gma
