Band videos

***Attention***

EDITED TO ADD ALL VIDEOS FROM THE HOLIDAY CONCERT AT THE BOTTOM

So as I posted a while back Josh went to Tokyo with the band and they performed at the budokan with a bunch of other bands. Just wanted to post the performance so you all could see it.

Also they recently had their Holiday concert and I recorded all of it =) however we don’t have all of it uploaded yet so I will just post the videos we do have. The 12 Days of Christmas is probably most peoples favorite video and its got a little over 2500 views on it! Hope you guys enjoy!

A late Happy Birthday and Happy Veterans Day

For those of you who don’t know Wednesday was the 235th birthday of the USMC. Our ball actually happened to fall on the birthday this year. Our ball was up at Camp Hansen in a club called The Palms, which was a rather odd place and they had way too many people packed in. It was still fun though.  For now this is the best picture we have until we can order the professional ones(if they look good). Here’s Hoping!

So Happy 235th Birthday USMC!

016Also I kind of missed it but Happy Veterans Day to those of you who have served/are serving in our armed forces. In our family we have Josh(of course),Ron, Daniel, Jake, and Dustin! I know that I’m proud of all of you for serving, and I know that this country takes immense pride in what you do and have done.

On another note, Josh will be leaving next week for a big gig on mainland. We have been told recently to not disclose locations for safety reasons. I’m pretty sure it is public knowledge that this event is happening, but I will check before I post for sure.

And a big announcement: We will be traveling to Bangkok, Thailand for Thanksgiving!!! As long as all of the permissions come through anyways! We have already bought plane tickets and the boys are supposed to be booking the hotel today. By boys I mean Josh and Kyle, one of our friends that we are going with! Just a past picture of Kyle and Josh so maybe you remember who I am talking about. We hang out with him pretty often and he’s a good friend of ours.

So I assume we will have a blast hopefully I can get Josh to take a lot of pictures on his big band trip and we will take lots on the Thailand trip! I would love to have more to tell you guys about. Things have been kind of boring around here. I can’t wait for Josh to get done with all of this madness, and have work slow down!Hope things are going well on everyone elses…ends? Hope you had a good weekend.

on another note, I typed this up and forgot to post it, so now they are really late!! Sorry! =/

A late Happy Halloween

005

This year halloween was pretty interesting. We went to a friends of a friends party(maybe I said that right) on Saturday night and had a good time. Then on Sunday we went to see the Norris Family for their party. It was a nice weekend, but it would have been better if this stupid head cold didn’t come back. Did you guess who we are? Waldo and Wenda, from the Where’s Waldo? books. Also we decided to carve some pumpkins this year with popular Japanese childrens characters on them, only it didnt go as planned. Apparently the humidity here causes pumpkins to mold at about 5X the rate they have in SC or in NC. Needless to say, I’ll show you Anpanman but not Baikinman, he was a little too…. fuzzy.

011

Anpanman is a bread headed superhero, whose head is filled with red bean paste. He fights crime and saves hungry people by feeding them…yes you guessed it, pieces of his head. He’s SUPER popular here and you can find him on everything! Baikinman is the villain of the show, and he is a germ man, I guess. I’ve watched a few episodes, and it’s kind of strange. Then again, what children’s cartoon isn’t? Interested? Just search youtube for Anpanman, they will be in Japanese of course but you can kind of guess what’s going on. I assume it could help me with my Japanese!

Other than that not much has gone on here. Josh has started ball season so he will be out a lot at night playing Marine Corps Balls all over the island. He was gone last night, he’ll be gone tonight and tomorrow night as well. At least I get him tomorrow during the day for a while! Our ball will be on Wednesday and hopefully I can post some pictures of us. The weather has cooled down a good bit. The air conditioner is off now and we just have the windows open. Josh isn’t a fan of sleeping with the windows open because all of the noises keep him up. Wish I had more to report but life has been kind of slow.

Unfortunately, I don’t have too much to write about the museum. The museum building was gorgeous, like something you would see in a movie. There wasn’t a whole lot to see. The museum was broken down into different exhibit rooms, about the war, folklore, archaeology. Maybe if I go a second time I will go with people who care more about history and learning. Not saying that who I went with didn’t, but they seemed rather bored!

Shurijo Castle

The see through floor space is actually the remains of the old Shurijo Castle that was destroyed in the war. All that is being toured is just a massive replica.

Yesterday we took a trip to Naha with two of our friends Chris and Joey. Our first stop was Shurijo (commonly just called Shuri) Castle.  The actual castle was ruined in the war to the castle that is toured is a replica. For a lot of the tour you must take off your shoes and place them in a plastic bag to carry. So, remember to wear good socks! It was pretty neat to look at the way things used to be. I was a little disappointed at the scaffolding on the front of it, but maybe we can go back before we leave and it will be repainted or something! Either way it was still a fun/interesting trip.

Hiji Falls

These are all pictures from our hike to Hiji Falls last Monday. It was pretty rough, being that we were climbing up and down stairs the entire way there and back. I did feel rather triumphant after it was done though! The other two people in our pictures are our friends Ada and Bryce. This is a special spot to them because Bryce proposed to Ada here!
