Goodbye beautiful

I’m writing this on the way to my grandparent’s house with intentions of publishing it when we get there.

It’s 2:06 and we are driving on I-95 in SC. If there is one thing that I won’t miss in the three year period we will be gone, I-95 may be it. We left this morning around 7 and I miss it a lot already. I think the most upsetting part was driving over the bridge and looking out over downtown New Bern. I think now that I’m a bit older I can appreciate small towns much more. To just anyone New Bern may not seem like much, but to me it was wonderful. I’ll miss Union Point Park and Middle Street a lot. I’ll miss the old historic homes and the plays.Even though I really enjoyed the place that’s not the main reason I’m upset. I’m moving away from some really awesome people. I didn’t have to say goodbye to Hayley and Jessica yet thank goodness because they are coming to SC to visit me in April. We went to Hallmark yesterday to say goodbye to them, and even though I didn’t seem super emotional, it was hard. Those women, and Paul, have been a part of my everyday life for a while now and I’m really going to miss that.  We did have to say goodbye to a bunch of wonderful families and couples last night. I guess all we can hope is that our paths cross again someday along the way and that keeping in touch will go both ways.

Quick side note: We now have Skype so add us if you haven’t already. Search Shauna & Josh Crissey.

One step closer

Our main body shipment is now gone, and we are completely packed. We have one bedroom one bathroom and the kitchen about clean(we have minor things to do in each still). Our express shipment leaves tomorrow. My paperwork is all done, now Josh has to get his part finished. His hail and farewell at work is most likely going to be tomorrow. With all of this being said and our life in New Bern coming to an end, its amazing to think that we wont even be in Oki until MAY! A lot of visiting to do in the upcoming month and a half. Hopefully we won’t be too worn out to enjoy our travels. We will be moving out tomorrow and I don’t really feel like it should be time yet. moving

Ps: I swear our house doesn’t always look like this =)

Almost done with technicalities

Went up to the base today, and after a rather frustrating two hours, got some things done! I’m all done at dental, all set with immunizations, and only have one more appointment and I will be all set to go. The first set of movers comes tomorrow for most of our home goods that we wont be needing ASAP. Our internet will be cut off tomorrow along with cable. That’s progress.  Josh still has a lot of signatures to get for his checking out process, but he’s got about half of them. Our luggage is almost fully packed just waiting on some laundry to get done. We got lily her airline appropriate crate for the flight, now we just have to make sure all of her paperwork is straight. We are probably going to get Vonage for when we are stationed over there. It’s a good deal, I know everyone isn’t good at corresponding online so maybe that will make everyone happy. I think its time for beddy-bye. Goodnight.

A Beautiful Day In the Neighborhood

It’s been quite a while since I have updated everyone on the goings on of our move. Last night was my last night of work at Hallmark(HOORAY). Last week we received the dates the movers would be here and they are coming the 16,17, and 18. WOW! We weren’t supposed to leave here until the 28th which is a Sunday, but then we realized we can actually leave the 26th since all of the check out has to be complete by then anyways. Either way its still 8 days without a residence, so we will be staying with some friends. We’ve been spending our time readying the house for the movers. It’s in complete disarray right now which really stresses me out, but it has to be done. I just expected to be in our house a little longer, and I guess now that its coming up so fast I’m realizing how much I’ll miss this little house and New Bern. Our actual flights to Okinawa have been scheduled, well 3/4 of them have been anyways. We will be leaving on May 5th (I think!) from Raleigh Durham and flying to Seattle. From Seattle we fly to mainland Japan. From mainland Japan we fly to either Korea or Russia, Korea makes more sense but the international airport code they gave us is for Russia. From whichever one of those countries we will then be flying to Okinawa! I’m hoping that all of this won’t be too tough for Lily. I think this is one time when her deafness may be to our advantage. I have to go buy some large luggage today since I will be living out of it for 1 1/2- 2 months. There’s still a lot to be done, so I guess I should quit blogging for now. =)
